Yes, plastic in an oven. I have a small bakery in Mexico and have always sworn by Nordic Ware (which is still GREAT), but it is REALLY expensive to ship here, AND with my arthritis I am noticing the weight more and more. I bought a few of these Pantastic molds and have had really good results. I fear that the plastic will become brittle with time, but so far, so good. I find these really fast and simple to remove your cake due to the flexability of the plastic pan, they are MUCH lighter so you can move a stack of them from the storeroom to the baking room easily, I pay MUCH less for shipping them here, and they are less expensive to begin with. I am beginning to think that even IF they do become brittle, it is still more cost effective to replace them than to spend the $ and weight of the heavy aluminum ones. Create more shapes people, lol! My birthday is on St. Patrick's Day, so a shamrock was a given, however my husband actually accused me of buying this one "just for me", imagine, lol. So, I baked it and decorated the heart shaped leaves in red and made it a Valentine's Day bouquet to prove it's versatility.
